Highly apposite! We spent yesterday mooching around the bookshops in Hay-on-Wye. I doubled my Carcanet collection by buying twelve more for a pound each. When you see the shop shelves groaning under the weight of so much remaindered poetry, you’d need a heart of stone not to laugh. Possibly my best purchase was ‘The Message’ by Roddy Lumsden and Stephen Trousse which is basically an analysis of the connections between pop music and poetry.
